Speaking of American Idol, judge Kara DioGuardi was asked by
Barbara Walters on The View today if questions about Adam being
gay cost him the crown. "I hope not," DioGuardi answered.
"Because we should be judging on talent and viability in the music
industry, and they both had that. (Anyway,) I don't think Adam was
ever in the closet. I think he was always openly out. I mean, from
what I've seen . . . I never thought he wasn't."
In an earlier interview with People.com, Lambert said people who
worried about whether he preferred men or women romantically
needed to "calm down," and that the most important thing was
that he was being true to himself. "You should own who you are
and what you're about, and never make apologies for it," he said.

Lambert is not only openly gay, he is planning to be on next
week's Rolling Stone cover to confirm it after months of
speculation." No further information was available at posting time.
A courageous Russian lesbian couple, Irina Fedotova, and Irina
Shipitko have been denied a marriage license in what they
describe as the country's first attempt by two women to marry. The

A flustered official quickly denied their application May 12, 2009, a
move that gay rights activists say symbolizes Russian officials'
refusal to recognize the civil rights of the country's gay
community. Registry office director Svetlana Potomoshneva
handed the couple a written rejection saying Russian law only
recognizes marriages between men and women.
The lesbians said they would not give up. "We won't stop in
midstream," Fedotova told reporters later, saying she and her
partner will marry in Canada, because "Russia recognizes
marriages registered abroad," thus allowing the couple to

protesters who blocked the intersection of Van Ness and Grove for
several hours yesterday in reaction to California Supreme Court's
ruling that confirmed Proposition 8’s legality, the voter-approved

Press reports “Two of the nation's top litigators who opposed
each other in the Bush v. Gore election challenge in 2000 have
joined forces in Los Angeles to seek federal court intervention in
California's gay marriage controversy. Theodore B. Olson and
David Boies have filed a U.S. District Court lawsuit on behalf of two
gay men and two gay women, arguing that the California
constitutional amendment eliminating the right of gay couples to
marry violates the U.S. constitutional guarantee of equal protection
and due process. Olson said yesterday he hopes the case will
wind up before the U.S. Supreme Court. The lawsuit also seeks a
preliminary injunction against California's Proposition 8 until the
case is resolved.” All I have to say, is what took them so long?

majority to dictate the civil rights of a minority.

I predict riots in the streets over this travesty. The only good thing
was the justices’ unanimous decision to allow the state’s 18,000
gay marriages already performed to remain on the books.

Justice Carlos Moreno wrote the sole dissenting opinion:
“Denying same-sex couples the right to wed strikes at the core of
the promise of equality that underlies our California Constitution. It
represents a drastic and far-reaching change. Promising equal
treatment to some is fundamentally different from promising equal
treatment for all."
California gays are planning to take the issue back to the ballot
box next year, so all is not lost. Recent polls show public opinion

diplomatic rights to same sex spouses of all State Department
employees. The partners will now be issued passports and be

US Magazine reports judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe
has apologized to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against
Defamation (GLAAD) after making comments against a same-sex

premier. His criticism evoked indignation and a boycott threat from
GLAAD, after he told male partners Misha Belfer (gay) and Mitchel
Kibel (straight, so he says): "I think you will probably alienate a lot

for next year’s casting call. I shudder each time I hear her say, “Do
you got what it takes to be America’s next drag super star? Look at
me, honey. I made it all the way to the top.” How does being runner
up qualify as being on top? What happened to Bebe? Frankly, my

Las Vegas should’ve won by a landslide. At least, she’s beautiful
and has class, neither of which are attributes of the over-painted

Loved The View this morning when Whoopi and Barbara exposed
ultra conservative Glen Beck who frequently cries for our poor
“liberal socialist” government on his Fox show for the lying fool
that he is. He had claimed on the air that Amtrack reserved a
couple of seats for the hosts of The View, displacing his friends,
when nothing could be further from the truth. Was it important?
No. Did it illustrate how far Mr. Beck will go to “prove” a point?
Yes! Good for Whoopi and Barbara.
I am pleased to see openly gay actess Jane Lynch starring in
Fox’s new musical comedy, Glee, which debuted after American
Idol last night. Best known for her deadpan delivery, you might

remember her from the movie, Best in Show, where she played the
editor of American Bitch magazine. She’s a veteran actress who
has appeared in at least a zillion movies and television shows. In
Glee, she stars as high school cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester,
the nemesis of the Glee Club’s optimistic director Will Shuester,
performed by cutie Matthew Morrison. The premier show was

I can’t tell you how sick and tired I am hearing about “Jon and
Kate” on all the tabloid TV shows. So what if they have a reality
show with their eight kids on some obscure network (TLC)? So
what if they now have an open relationship? Who gives a damn
about these nobodies?
American Idol 2009, the final results:
It was a long show, bordering on cruelty, as they made us wait two
hours for the crowning.

David Cook, last year’s winner, sang “Permanent.” I haven’t heard
a thing about him all year and now I know why. He’s just not that
good.
It was fun to see bikini-clad Katrina return with her new breast
implants, but I kept hoping Ryan Seacrest would ask her how she
felt about gay marriage! Where’s Perez Hilton when you need him?
The satirical Golden Idol Awards were funny as hell. I enjoyed
revisiting the best of the worst.
The Kris Allen and Keith Urban duet “Kiss a Girl” was rather
strange and not particularly memorable. I was just happy they
didn’t make Adam Lambert sing those lyrics!
Though she’s a million years old, super gay-friendly Cyndi Lauper
never looked better, as she sang her duet “Time After Time” with
fiery redhead Idol contestant Allison Iraheta.
Third runner-up Danny Gokey sang “Hello,” but hit several flat
notes, showing why he had been eliminated. His duet with Lionel
Richey also fell flat.
Adam Lambert sang “Detroit Rock City” with Kiss. What was he
dressed as? A leather angel? He looked great! Oh, yeah! He
sounded fantastic, too! It was all a bit weird, but then I’ve never
been a Kiss fan.
I really enjoyed “Black Magic Woman” by the top thirteen finalists
with Carlos Santana. Of course, Santana is entertaining without
lyrics! The man can play a mean guitar!
Steve Martin playing the banjo and singing on American Idol? Well,
almost. He played the banjo to a song he wrote, “Pretty Flowers,”
but never did break into song himself.
I liked it when aging rock star Rod Stewart sang “Maggie,” but I
could’ve done without the plaid tuxedo jacket!
I thought it was particularly fitting that for their final number, Adam
and Kris sang gay icon Freddie Mercury’s “We Are the
Champions,” the legendary anthem of “straight” sports teams
everywhere.
Okay! We’ve finally reached the results! And the 2009 American
Idol winner is: Oh, my God. It’s Kris Allen. I’m so disappointed, I
can barely post the results. What a disappointment! It’s not the first
time the public has made a mistake. I take solace in knowing Adam
will become the biggest superstar of this era.

American Idol the Final Two:
According to Ryan Seacrest, tonight’s show could’ve been
subtitled, “Kris the Acoustic Crooner vs. Adam the Glam Rocker.”
Each contestant did three numbers.

For their first songs,
*Adam Lambert sang “Mad World.” Great soul-filled rendition!
“Haunting!” said Paula and she was right on. Adam proved he
could sing without screaming!
*Kris Allen sang “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Excellent performance, I
must say. Heartfelt! Simon said Kris won the first round, but I
wouldn’t go that far.
For the second numbers,
*Adam Lambert sang “Change is Gonna Come.” Wow! When he
screamed the lyrics, “My change is gonna come,” I got chills!
Loved the sharkskin suit, too! “Iconic!” shouted Paula, who once
again hit the nail on the old head.
*Kris Allen sang “What’s Goin’ On?” Mediocre. Lackluster. Great
topical lyrics, but the song didn’t provide enough musical range.
Even Simon ceded this round to Adam.
And for the third tune, both sang the same one, penned by Idol
judge Kara DioGuardi.
*Adam Lambert sang “No Boundaries.” This song by was not a
good choice. Although the words were great, the music fell flat.
Adam performed the best he could with a substandard song.
*Kris Allen also sang “No Boundaries.” I have to say Kris did a
better job with this tune, but I still didn’t like it.
Overall, Adam won hands down. By the way, have I told you what a
cute couple Adam and Kris make? A man can dream, can’t he?
Don’t forget to vote, vote, vote, kiddies! This is an important
election for the GLBT community!
The New York Times has an interesting article about American Idol
today. Stephen Holden writes, “The overhyped media question of
the moment is whether the country is ready to hand the crown to
an androgynous, seemingly gay 27-year-old fireball from San
Diego.” Read the whole story here. I’ll be back later with my take
on tonight’s show.
Laughable is the only way to describe the controversy
surrounding Britney Spears’ new song, “If You Seek Amy.” The
conservative, censor-loving Parental Television Council (PTC)
claims the title, if sung really fast, sounds like, “F---k Me.” I listened
to the song and didn’t get that from it. Although the tune isn’t that
great, thanks to the PTC, it’s now guaranteed to go platinum! And
that makes me happy because I hate censorship.
Good News Dept: WebMD reports a molecule in green tea, EGCG ,
may block the transmission of the AIDS virus. Studies now
underway to determine the natural compound’s effectiveness in
anti-HIV gels show great promise.

It’s a true disgrace how the US media is ignoring the violent arrests
of Gay Pride organizers in fascist Russia. The television news
broadcasts covered the Eurovision Song Contest but made no
mention of the horrific aggression perpetrated against our brave
brothers and sisters in Moscow yesterday. Why aren’t our
government leaders speaking out against this abomination?
BBC World News says the elderly are not getting enough
sunshine, something I’ve noted for a long time, despite the general
and erroneous “professional” belief that the sun is bad.
Researcher Dr Oscar Franco says, "Vitamin D deficiency caused
by lack of sun exposure is becoming a condition that is causing a
large burden of disease across the globe with particular
deleterious impact among the elderly. Low vitamin D levels are
associated with an increased risk of having metabolic syndrome,
and are also significantly associated with increased insulin
resistance." Metabolic syndrome's cluster of obesity, high blood
sugar, high blood pressure and high cholesterol can lead to heart
disease, stroke and diabetes.

CNN reports that dozens of gays and lesbian rights activists
planning a GLBT civil rights parade in southwestern Moscow
Saturday have been arrested.
...Gay and lesbian civil rights activists being detained in Moscow Saturday ahead of a planned march.
The detainees included Nikolai Alexeyev, a well-known gay activist
in Russia and his partner Nikolai Bayev. The arrests came just
before tonight's Eurovision Song Contest, being held in Moscow
Saturday evening. The competition has a huge following in the gay
and lesbian community. UK gay human rights campaigner Peter
Tatchell, stated on his website, "This parade is in defense of the
often violated human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender Russians. They want legal protection against
discrimination and hate crimes. I support their cause. Not all
Russians are homophobic, but many are. Gay Russians suffer
queer-bashing attacks, blackmail, verbal abuse and discrimination
in education, housing and employment, This shames the great
Russian nation." The heads of state must still be living in the Dark
Ages over there.
The Associated Press reports GOP Chairman Michael Steele is
going around the country asserting gay marriage will hit American
taxpayers in their pocketbooks. He says Republicans can reach a
broader base by recasting homosexual marriage as an issue that
will force companies to spend more on health care for same sex
spouses. As if medical coverage is a bad thing! Oh, those
Republicans! They just get more and more clever as time
continues to push their once Grand Old Party to the brink of
oblivion!

Carrie Prejean, is in trouble again. It seems she was too hung-over
from celebrating her twenty-second birthday to show up for a
scheduled appearance on Larry King Live. She also accepted a
guest host job from right wing Fox and Friends for May 27th
without clearing it with Miss California officials. Disgruntled
pageant director Keith Lewis told radaronline.com. “She did not
ask us if she could host the show and once again Carrie is not in
compliance with her contract and obligations.”
As a former small businessman, I feel sorry for all those
automobile dealers being given pink slips by car manufacturers. It
appears to be mostly family-owned companies that are getting the
ax. I wonder if Obama can tell us how this is supposed to help the
economy? It’s not right to put hundreds more people out of work
and to force dealerships to close without reimbursing them for
parts and cars they will soon be unable to sell.

Gay news services are becoming increasingly uneasy with the
way President Barack Obama appears to have stalemated on gay
rights, despite campaign pledges to push forward on this issue.
From Queerity to the Advocate, editorials are beginning to
compare our treatment to that afforded us by President Clinton,
who abandoned us after receiving flack for trying to get the military
to allow us to join openly.
The word being bandied about most often is “used,” in that the
gay community has been “used” once again by the candidate to
get elected, then abandoned. I, for one, am willing to give Obama
more time. The poor man has a full plate and, after all, it’s only
been a little more than a hundred days.
I am worried, however, about something that bothered me from
early on in Obama’s campaign: his eagerness to push forward
with the war in Afghanistan. We have to stop being the self-
appointed police of the world. War is not the answer. All it does is
demean us and our allies, especially when we accidentally bomb
civilians, something that happens all the time. When will we ever
learn?
The FX network presented Snakes on a Plane last night. The
movie has been touted as an action/adventure film but I found it to
be an entertaining comedy. I switched to American Idol at eight, so
I didn’t catch the ending. But what I did see was hilarious, plus it
was filled with a bevy of beautiful, sexy guys. I mean, this movie
could well become a cult classic! I may even rent the flick just to
finish drooling, and to see what happened during the last hour, of
course.
A movie about vipers was particularly relevant to me yesterday, as
I found three five-foot rat snakes having a high old time slithering
around my hen house when I went to feed my prize Silver Leghorn
chickens. A search on the Internet taught me these serpents
actually prefer eggs over rodents, as eggs don’t run or bite. Well,
believe me, I taught those lazy bitches a heavy lesson. Suffice it to
say, they won’t be killing anymore unborn chicks under my watch!
It’s all about Pro-Choice. Mine!
